1,000hp And You're Driving 65mph? 2016.11.12

This is a 2006 Bugatti Veyron:
It has 1,000 horsepower, has a top speed of 253mph, has an air brake (which is pretty cool) which alone, could stop a small car, has 10 radiators, and 4 turbochargers. If you can get it up to it's top speed, your tires will explode in 15min, but don't worry - you'll run out of fuel in 10. (I can remember these useless specs but have a hard time memorizing scripture - yes, pray for me pls!)

Imagine the frustration of driving one, and never take it over 65mph. (for argument's sake, casting the safety for us & others aside, caesar's law, ... just think about it)

And yet, most of us live with that frustration on a daily basis. We fail to see the potential spiritual energy residing within us. Just the opposite, we're more aware of our weaknesses & inabilities instead! God lives in us, and yet we live our lives without remotely coming close to utilizing His wisdom & authority. He has given us limitless power (resources, strength & help) and we don't know what to do with it.

When Jesus was crucified, His followers were devastated, and their world was crumbling all around them. They left their former lives to follow Jesus, and He was now gone. But on the 3rd day, Jesus rose from the dead, and made His presence known to his disciples. Their hope was renewed because they thought that Jesus was going to establish his physical kingdom:

6Then they gathered around him and asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Acts 1:6-8

Jesus told them it was them who would begin His kingdom here on earth, and that He was going to give them the power to do it.

Let's look at another perspective:

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

Luke 24:49

Jesus does not clothe us with power to climb the corporate ladder, build a stronger family, upgrade our standard of living, or fulfill all our dreams. We’re not even clothed with power mainly to heal the sick, free the enslaved, and feed the poor. We’re clothed with power to carry his name. To witness to the worth and wonder of Jesus Christ. To offer everyone everywhere the chance to repent, believe in Him, and receive his forgiveness for all their sin. To experience joy greater than any they’ve ever known.

Stop living your days where you are not utilizing the power bestowed upon you as His disciple! If you want to experience God's power in you, and watch His power move through you, and witness His power rescuing dead and dying people because of you, boldly tell the world that Jesus is your Lord & greatest Treasure. Bear the name of Christ in what you do and what you say. There is nothing the Holy Spirit is happier to do through you than to make much of Jesus.
