Daily Scripture 2016.08.15
Romans 8:15 "The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[a] And by him we cry, 'Abba,[b] Father.'"
What you couldn't get from old covenant, Paul was telling the church that we now have an opportunity to have an intimate, joyful relationship with God, as His child.. One so close where we can cry out "Abba, Father!"
How amazing is it that the scriptures tell us that we can call out to God with such confidence, and yet, that's equally amazing is that we don't see ourselves worthy of that right. It's through Jesus that we have that privilege of relating to the Father, just as Jesus does. It's said that under Roman law, an adopted child lost all rights in his old family, and gained all rights to the new one. The old life, including debts, were wiped away. Do we also follow this, being a member of God's family?
