Daily Scripture 2016.08.25

Romans 8:23-25 23 "Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently."

Although we have received God's forgiveness of sins, putting us on the path to salvation, we continue to wait patiently in this imperfect world, until we can be become united with God in heaven. Until then, we patiently wait... and it is difficult! But patience isn't an inactive thing...

Some people think that being patient means passively accepting everything that's thrown at us as we wait to go to heaven. But that's not the case! Jesus did not "let things just happen" - He rebuked the sin & darkness that was around Him, in ways that made people want to change & follow Him!

We are so much more equipped to handle this world because of our hope & faith in Him. We must remember that we have been given he opportunity of salvation, and while we wait, we can share that knowledge of salvation with others (in the hope that they too embrace Jesus as Lord).

Our spiritual lives may hit a lull, and that's exactly what the devil wants. Remember God's promises, and how we are necessary in glorifying God!
