Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
As disciples, we are all familiar with the fact that God will always be with us, and how we are strong because of Him. With all that we've seen & learned, our faith has developed to a level where (i at least hope that) we've accepted God's promise as fact.
And yet , we all live in fear. Sometimes, people won't accept 'themselves' - we fear rejection. We fear man and what they may think.. we, in one way or another, keep each other at arms length. "Why would I tell you about my weakness when I won't even acknowledge it?!?" Most of us have grown up trying to please people so they won't reject us - We all have this desire to be loved. And unfortunately, people usually love based upon your "performance" - If you do what they want, they accept you. If you don't, they reject you. Luckily, this is not God's Love - Agape.
God loves us, and has accepted us because He has decided to, and not based upon what we do or don't do. He knows that we're weak, so let's simply admit it to Him and let Him help us anyway (Heb 4:15-16)
