Ezekiel 36:26 "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh."
At multiple points in our lives, we've all suffered from a broken heart. Blame it on relationships, home life, or even broken promises - We've closed out our hearts to protect ourselves. And that's probably why we became disciples. (Some of us may even still struggle with a broken heart). What is it that makes you struggle to give 100% of your heart? Pride? Vulnerability? Loving someone? Being loved? Trust? A fear of rejection?
We all know that God can heal our hearts, but do we truly let Him? We all say "yes" to that change, but "ehhhhh" in reality. He is ready & willing and yet we balk at times...
We need to seriously meditate on His promises (tried & true, never wrong, always on time promises):
- God has the power (and the willingness) to heal our hearts [Psalm 147:3]
- God is near & promises to help us, especially when we're down [Psalm 34:18]
- God truly does care for us [1 Peter 5:7]
A hardened heart is not what God wants, so much so, that He's promised to help. All we need is the courage to try & change, to allow Him to work on us. And that in itself, should bring joy, even to a heart of stone.
