#Don'tDecide 2017.06.07
We have always wondered of we were making the right decision or not. It's understandable - making the wrong decision creates stress. "Should I stay, or go?" "Should I marry this girl?" "Should I move?"
The problem we have is, when we can't make up our mind, we stagger through life. Look at the following scripture, but also make not of what italicized:
6But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
James 1:6-8 |
Note: The greek word for "unstable" means "almost anarchic" [link]
But we all know (or maybe, we need to be reminded) that God is our solution for our indecisiveness. It is in our best interest to let God make our decisions for us.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake
Psalm 23:3 |
But how often have we decided to give it to God? You've asked God to guide you, only to end up even more confused than before.
We all know that God isn't playing games with us (although sometimes, we may struggle in believing that). Our problem may lie in the fact that we're looking at the wrong thing when we are trying to let God decide.
Maybe our problem is, we're looking for some concrete, obvious, written in crayon answer. Maybe we want the light in our heads to go on. In one way or another, we are all looking for some sign, in one form or another. The problem is, these expectations can lead to frustration, missing God's will. We just need to remember that He is guiding us, with every step of the way.
