Question God... It's OK?!?! 2017.02.23
How often do we struggle with what's on our proverbial plate, and yet we stubbornly turn against God. (not a lot, maybe just a little) Let's face it - we've all, in one way or another, have been frustrated and have directly/indirectly question God?
8By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. 9I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?" | ||
Psalm 42:8-9 |
David wrote this with the same attitude - He talks about how God loves him, he calls him "the God of my life", and yet follows it up with "How could you forget me? Why is my enemy winning? Why must I feel this way?"
Sound familiar, huh?
Sadness with stubborn trust. Praise with brutally honest questions. We seek comfort while still being honest. We still respect Him, pray to Him, but we're still determined to keep trusting Him, even when the answer's don't come right away.
When life is hard, is it harder to keep your heart soft & close to God, or to ask Him your "why" questions, and stay convinced that He is acting out of love with you? We need to pray to God that our heart doesn't harden toward Him, but also have the ability to to be honest with Him about what's hard with life while still trusting Him with the outcome.
