#SeriousnessOfSin 2018.02.27

If you reflect upon scripture, you will find one thing that is the most imperative problem is sin. It beats death, sickness, war, or selfishness because it has to do with a person's soul. It's also the most impactful not because it has a great effect on a person's short time alive, but also to their eternal future.

11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.

Romans 6:11-12

Disciples contemplate the seriousness of sin on a regular basis. But even non-believers question their shortcomings at several points in their lives.
"What am I going to do about sin?"
It's the question that takes precedence over all other questions that we are called to answer. Kings, presidents, millionaires.... No one is exempt from this - we all must confess our relationship with sin.

If we are humble & honest with ourselves, we admit our sin, and our responsibility that comes along with it. We don't serve it up with the global excuse that we can't do anything about it. We have a disease... one without an immediate cure.

But sin is more than just a disease. it's a deformity of the spirit, an abnormality in our human nature that clearly separates us from God. It's a capital crime against God - it's treason against our God, who made the heavens & the earth. In everything we try to do, our own personal human nature goes against God.

Reflect upon today's post, but in a positive way - Although sin is very serious, we are loved & forgiven by a God who continues to guide, protect & forgive us, if we humbly come to Him & confess. But let's also remember that if there is sin that is not dealt with, it condemns us to that spiritual death, now & forever.
