When the Times Get Tough, Where is Your Focus? 2016.11.17
We all know that when we stay focused on God's Plan for us, and not our problems, we are happy, even when life seems to be falling apart. And yet, are you "there"? And when you are, how quickly do you lose that focus? (be honest)
22If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, | ||
Philippians 1:22-25 |
Paul, quite possibly the greatest disciple in history, is a perfect example of "proper focus". When he was in prison, in Rome, he was an old man, far away from home, and awaiting his execution. He lost his friends, freedom, even his privacy. But there was one thing that man couldn't take away from him - his purpose. Despite all of the "inconveniences", he chose to stay focused on serving God by serving others.
Even at our darkest moments (and I can speak for myself that I don't think that i've gotten there yet), we still have a choice. Similar to Job when we've had everything taken away from us, we can't control what other people do to you, or around you but we can still choose how we respond.
