"You Gonna' Let You DAD Fight For You, Huh?!??!" [part 2] 2016.10.28
We all know that God knows much more than we could ever know. I don't think that I know any disciple who will ever say that they know better than God, but I also know that I'm a disciple that has a hard time following that through (believing that God knows better than I do). And in God knowing what's best (let's call it what it is), He also has a battle plan. When we walk into our battles, we have weapons, but not physical ones.
The Armor of God | ||
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Ephesians 6:10-18 |
It's God's Word that changes our lives; It's words contain power. It renews our minds & hearts & makes changes in us. Where in an actual battle, soldiers need rage to survive, we instead need peace. When the bullets start flying past our heads, we need to stand firm in peace because God is with us. (now that's confidence, huh?!?)
Our first natural response to bad news is fear. How often do we freak, go to the Word, pray and receive comfort... only to fall back into the cycle of fear? Faith rises when you hear God. But we won't hear from God unless we are seeking Him. And if we don't "hear" from Him, we still need to believe that He will take care of it. When has He ever let you down?
You're never going to get help from God until you admit that you can't do it yourself. Can you think of a scripture where a prideful man received God's help? We need to accept the fact that what we're dealing with is too much for us. And as I had shared yesterday, we may have God knowledge & God experience, but we lack in God confidence - We need to take that to God. We need to humble ourselves before Him, and just be honest - "God Almighty, I'm sorry for my lack of faith. I know & have seen your Power, and yet I find it hard to have faith. Pls help my faith to grow."
God will provide solutions - as disciples, we are never without answers - We may not know "now", but in time, God will show us those answers. We need to believe that, in those times where we're waiting, God's leading us and we don't even know that He is. But sometimes, when we wait, He wants to see if we have hope in some other plan outside of God.
Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
2 Chronicles 20:15b |
I had shard in a previous post where God's people were surrounded and on the verge of extinction. And yet, God told them to walk into battle led by the choir. Their praise & worship confused their enemy so much, that they ended up fighting amongst themselves and killing each other. When was the last time you walked into your battle, singing & praising God? Filled with the confidence that God gives you because we are worshiping Him, instead being filled with fear & dread? I challenge you to do that (and to hold me to it) when the bullets start to fly! See God's power in action!
