You Is Kind, You Is Smart, You Is A Living Sacrifice 2017.01.20

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Romans 12:1

When we emerged from the baptismal waters, it solidified our previous statement that "Jesus is Lord". Romans 12:1 states that God will accept our lives as a holy & pleasing sacrifice, no matter our former lives. We are offer ourselves as living sacrifices, which implies denying ourselves... living in purity. We need to lay down our lives to Him daily.

Remember when you pray the company line:
"Lord, we don't deserve your [son, love, mercy, forgiveness, ...]"
This is where we respond to God's gifts through honoring Him. We are walking advertisements to everyone around us, that we are have been purchased by another.

16You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. 17My sacrifice, O God, is[a] a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.

Psalm 51:16-17

God wants people who look past the hum-drummery of "religion" or the works of the world, but want to draw near to Him through faith & worship Him in spirit & truth. He wants those who want more than "just to be good" but those who desire to be His.

Seriously reflect for a moment: Would you say that your life reflects God, the Lord you serve? In what ways have you surrendered your life to God? And in what ways have you not? Spend the next seven days, praying to God to reveal the areas in your life that are still your own. Ask Him to make you a living sacrifice. As you feed on God’s Word and embrace His faithfulness, allow His grace to be your source of empowerment!
