Your Scars Serve A Purpose [part 2] 2016.10.12
In continuation to our emotional scars are God's Purpose...
Scars are mistakes, and if we do not learn from them, then we went through all of that for nothing. I doubt that we want to repeat past mistakes, especially in new relationships. The scars we carry (inside & out) help remind us of old wounds, and how cautious we should be in treating others. We can choose to let our past scars define us or dictate our future, or we can learn from it. In a healthy way, scars help to keep us on track.
Another thing: think about the times when those scars happened. Not exactly a great time, but do you remember how often you prayed for comfort? God is always there, no matter how dark our hour. His love & grace knows no limits and yet He sometimes allows us to go through scarring situations to draw us closer to Him. Thats our reminder that when difficult times happen, we need to run to Jesus. He is our way to truly heal.
And one last reason why our scars can be a testimony to God is how we can share those stories to others (sharing, not venting). We can share our stories because we've come full circle - we've gone thru the hurt & pain, processed & learned from the experience, and have seen healing thru God's grace. Sharing our story (without pointing fingers or blame) can help others learn learn from our mistakes, help others who are going through the same thing, but more importantly, it's proof that relying upon Him must happen through these tough times.
Scars & pain are going to happen - God allows it, but also allow God to use it.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18
